prenzlauer berg is situated in the eastern part of berlin. it was here were the opposition to the wall was formed among all the artists and political engaged people who lived here. they had moved in after many of the apartments was abandoned, during the times of ddr, after the million project was introduced in the suburbs, brand new apartments with electricity. cheap prenzlauer berg became a poor working class area, the breeding ground for rebellion. today this part of the city is gentrified and has been given a touch up. middle class families, international artists and hipsters are the main audience to the prenzlauer scene today.
when i lived here i woke up one saturday morning after 2 hours of sleep and my legs hurt from dancing, i went to the premiere opening of an ecological grocery store around the corner. it is the biggest eco store in europe.
a lot of the prenzlauer berg families were there.
free bionade, like soda but with less sugar and ofcourse ecologically produced. 
i got alot of free food and drinks.
