Ursholmen homecoming

In june this summer my brother and his girlfriend took me out by boat to Ursholmen.
I stayed on the island for two nights. In the northern building where the lighthouse keeper and his family used to live.
I spent my time walking around the small island on the cliffs, trying to get to know it, and taking pictures and bathing in the sea every morning. Late at night the lighthouse was lit by solar cells. Most of the time I sat in the living room of the empty house reading "Människohamn" by John Ajvide Lindqvist, a horror story taking place at a lighthouse island...

...so late at night i was comforted by the fact that I wasn't alone on the island. An old and chubby man and his two female colleagues stayed in the old bake house. They were inventory takers of the seals inhabiting small islands and skerries around there. I saw them leave in their tiny motor boat every day.

Dinner of sausage and red wine.
On the third day of my stay my brother was going to to come and take me back to land. But as the day went by a storm came in, wind of 10m/s.  I had seen my neighbors leave the island in the morning to count newly born seals. At 5 pm they still hadn't come back.

Luckily my brother made his way to the island, and we got back safe, despite the rough ride. I hope the seal workers also did.

Utlängan

In the beginning of this summer my classmates took me on a birthday trip
to the lighthouse at Utlängan. This little boy lived with his parents in the
old lighthouse keeper's house.

On this picture he is holdning a pair of binoculars, and later on he
went to get his Fjällräven backpack and four flycatchers in different colors to pose
with. He was very cute and talkative and not so ghosty looking as in this
photograph.
