valentine

after dan and nate had finished their daily activities, such as classes and soccer practise, the singles of north park gathered in their small apartment. i had been waiting for the party to come, from the moment i woke up and found a heartshaped bag of sweets outside our doorms, from our resident assistant. we ate chokladbollar and cookies, someone had brought brownies and everyone was in a good and cheerful mood.

it soon got crowded, even some of the occupied (and maybe even engaged) student sneaked in. at 11:30 the dancing party was getting started. billie holiday and michael jackson and the white stripes and beatles accompanied our lonely heart beats. the choice of music really soft pedalled the tensions of being single on valentine. i am glad that no rythm and blues or hip hop was involved. it would have turned nasty.

this is ike. he is definitely a party dancer. he plays basketball, and has a really fasionable outfit at every game. when i asked him why he wanted to go to college in chicago he answered: because of the concerts that are offered here, there are so many good bands that play here. he mostly listens to indie rock. last fall he went to four concerts. everytime i go to a party and see ike there, i know that there will be dancing for sure. he is good company on the dance floor, and he knows a lot of different moves.

kai knows a lot of swedish, even though he´s originally from norway and has lived in america almost his whole life. he can say things as mumsfillibabba, vuxenkalas, det kan du ge dig tusan på and ja men eller hur and gulli gull. every friday he wears a friday tie.

it soon got really sweaty on the dance floor and we soon ran out of cookies. we opened a window for some fresh air. eventhough it was valentine, there was no kissing going on. i had heard rumours about how crazy the party was going to be, that everyone was going to hook up with everyone. but the aura was friendly and i remember lying in the coach breathing heavily of exhaustion from dancing when they played the last song.
